PROJECTS

are you listening?
When was the last time you truly listened?
The string quartet ALMA DENO invites you to rediscover listening as an artistic and relational practice.
In the interplay between Caroline Shaw, Ludwig van Beethoven, improvisation, sound, noise and silence, we explore hearing, listening and not-listening - from both performative and exploratory perspectives.
Workshop and concert enrich one another and merge into a holistic experience that sharpens perception and shifts perspective.

Alltagszirkus oder Warum wir hierbleiben
"Alltagszirkus oder Warum wir hierbleiben" is centered around Xandi’s song "Weg von hier" that tells two stories of men who misused their power positions within the classical music scene. Originally Xandi wrote this piece (pop song style) just to cope with her experiences but after some time had passed she understood that this is a topic that should be sung out loud. The main focus while creating this program was on all the different emotional stages one goes through while dealing with such experiences. Furthermore, it’s about gradually getting to your inner core of honest, raw emotions, seeing them, recognizing them and still moving on and being full of hope. Beside the song "Weg von hier" the program consists of a wild mixture of different music in different styles. You will hear works from Franz Schubert, Wolfgang Amadé Mozart, Henry Purcell, Giacomo Carissimi and original compositions.
